Working Woman

My dad says I don't update my blog enough, so here we go! The only thing I can think of to write about is my job (since today is Labor Day haha). I work at the Bountiful High Child Care Center, and it's absolutely the best job in the world! Essentially, I get paid to play with kids, eat snacks, and occasionally sweep the floor or something. It doesn't get better than that! The girls I work with are super nice and I get along with them great, and my bosses are hilarious and the coolest people in the world. The kids are also super cute and pretty funny. I love to spend time with them. Here's just a few fun experiences that I've had with them:
I was outside playing with a little boy named Brigden. He was on his bike and asked me if we could race. I waited for him to start and he replied (in a tone that implied it was obvious) that I needed to count him off first. I quickly complied and as he went to pedal, he fell off the bike. He immediately hopped back on and then turned to give me a scathing look and said "You counted wrong."
Another time that I laughed pretty hard was when I was playing with a little girl named Noelle. She invited me to go on a pretend camping trip with her and I agreed. I was asking her what I should pack, and was trying to make her laugh, so I kept saying random things like, "Can I bring a watermelon?" or "What about a mailman? Should I bring that?". Instead of giggles, she gave me a pitying look, placed her hand on my head and asked "Um, are you stupid?"
Experiences like those are what keeps me laughing, but what's really amazing is how unselfish and generous and Christlike these kids can be. The other day, a little boy named Grant and his little brother Joel were dropped off for the day. Joel is only 18 months old, so he still cries when his mom leaves him. He was bawling his little head off and one of the girls I work with was trying to calm him down, but he wouldn't be consoled. Finally, Grant walks over and gives Joel his very special dog named All Gone that no one is allowed to touch and says "Here, Joel, you can hold onto him until you don't feel sad." It was incredible to see how loving Grant was!
I love my job and I love the kids I work with, and I wouldn't give it up for the world!
